Region: Nepal

“It is better to travel than read thousands of books”. This phrase does not fail to give an idea of the importance of traveling. We are so lucky to have such a naturally beautiful country with such broad cultural and ethnic diversity. As time goes by, the interest of travelers has increased from simple BUDGET TOURS to LUXURIOUS TRAVELS. A simple BUS DRIVE to expensive charter HELICOPTER FLIGHTS. A few hours of HIKING to three-month-long treks like the GREAT HIMALAYAN TRAIL. A casual HILL WALK to difficult climbing attempts to the World’s highest Mt. EVEREST. All different people around the globe have different methods to explore the destination that is Nepal.

Boudha

Boudhanath Stupa

The Boudhanath Stupa stands as the largest and among the oldest Buddhist shrines of Nepal. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful live worship sites in Kathmandu valley.

The spinning of prayer wheels, prostrating pilgrims (clock wisely), collective chants and burning butter lamps are some of the Buddhist practices often encountered every morning, even until the evening. Slips of paper/cloth bearing the mantra “Lungta” hang over the stupa/dome.  Boudhanath represents Dhammakaya, Buddhist philosophy (wisdom) and many other private monasteries surrounding the main dome. They also contribute to flourish the Northern Himalayan and Tibetan Buddhism which is Mahayana/Vajrayana/Tantrayana Buddhism. A large crowd can be seen in the morning and evening on the special days like Day 8 th Tara day, Day 10th Guru Rinboche (Padmasambhava day), Day 15 th Full moon, and Day 30 th Dark moon etc. as per Lunar calendar. A lot of souvenirs shops are also around the area which can make your day trip more interesting.
